Nestled in the heart of Saskatchewan's pristine wilderness, Lake Savard is a premier destination for anglers seeking the ultimate trophy fishing experience without having to do a fly-in fishing trip. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a newcomer to the sport, Lake Savard offers unparalleled opportunities to reel in the catch of a lifetime.
The Trophy Pike of Lake Savard
Lake Savard has earned a reputation for its monster northern pike, with many exceeding the coveted 25-pound mark. These apex predators thrive in the lake’s deep, cool waters, making for an exhilarating fishing experience. Their sheer size and fighting spirit are sure to test your skills and gear, offering a thrilling challenge for those in pursuit of a true trophy fish.
Pike fishing on Lake Savard is not just about size—it’s about the adventure. From casting along the lush weed beds to trolling the lake’s deeper waters, anglers are rewarded with the opportunity to hook these legendary giants against the backdrop of serene natural beauty. Being a lake that does not allow gasoline motors, there is no experience like a 20lb pike pulling you around in a kayak or canoe.
Walleye Fishing: A Unique Challenge
Lake Savard is also home to thriving populations of walleye, which grow at an exceptional rate of over 1 pound per year. Thanks to the lake’s abundance of freshwater shrimp, these fish achieve remarkable sizes, making them a sought-after prize for anglers. However, this rich food supply also presents a unique challenge—walleye on Lake Savard can be notoriously selective and difficult to catch.
Experienced anglers relish the opportunity to test their skills against these finicky feeders. Jigging along rocky drop-offs, casting in shallow coves, or trolling with finely tuned setups are just a few techniques that might tempt a bite. When you do hook into one of these walleye, the payoff is extraordinary—an impressive trophy fish that reflects the lake’s incredible ecosystem.
Lake Savard: Nature at Its Finest
Spanning depths of up to 90 feet, Lake Savard’s cold, clear waters are a haven for fish and anglers alike. Surrounded by unspoiled wilderness, the lake offers a tranquil retreat from the bustle of daily life. Its thriving populations of pike and walleye owe their size and health to the lake’s rich ecosystem, including its abundance of freshwater shrimp, a primary food source for these impressive fish.
Whether you’re fishing from the shore, a boat, or through the ice in winter, the lake’s stunning scenery provides the perfect backdrop for your fishing adventure. With the possibility of encountering trophy-sized catches at every turn, Lake Savard offers an experience that anglers won’t soon forget.
